Sure, we like the metaphoric and compositional contrast and all that bullshit, but nothing gets us going like a photo where the histogram looks like a football goalpost. What’s that you say? There’s no detail in the shadows? Who cares? Those inky blacks and hyper-saturated tones look bad-ass….

I was away in Andalucia for the weekend, I have to say so far it has been my favorite part of the Spain program so far. Beautiful buildings and history, I’d love to go back one day. I’ve been working on my Spanish for a while now and I am a state of feeling comfortable enough to carry on more intense conversations. Classes are a bit of a joke so far, midterms are coming up but no one knows what we are covering for them. I dont know what to expect honestly. Everything here is No Pasa Nada. I’m working on some HDR photos for the blog/ FaceBook, especially with the great photos out of this weekend. Will post soon!

So, I’m calling this my home for the next few months. Cant wait, i’ve already had Tortilla Espanolas, and other local dishes. Needless to say I am beyond excited to get the ball rolling and begin this semester. I am still having trouble with the language transition, and will continue to do so.

Counting down the Hours

So, just to update. I will be somewhere over the Atlantic at this time tomorrow on my way to Madrid, Spain for this coming semester. I have trouble understanding my excitement to spend more time abroad. I am disappointed at American University for not providing enough information in advance for anyone in the program. Its important to at least give a little more structure other than the beginning and end of the program.

Ive been looking at the weather and I have to say, it will be a nice change from my break here in Chicago and the usual weather in Washington D.C. I’m sure in no time it will be sunny and warm enough to head down to the coast for a few days off. Its great to think that my parents can use outside our kitchen as a outdoor freezer for larger items that do not fit in the fridge.

I’m booking a cruise with some friends to the Greek Islands for the time we think spring break will be.

Soon enough, Ill be back from abroad, on to summer and then my senior year of undergrad. such a weird feeling.
